Oliver, Donald - A barrister, teacher, entrepreneur, advocate and statesman, he became a member of the Senate of Canada in September of 1990, with emphasis on defending the rights and interests of minority groups, Nova Scotians and Canadians at large. Senator Oliver speaks to students, government officials, departments and organizations across Canada and around the world on ways to foster a culture of inclusion and to embrace a diverse society. He has been a longtime resident of Pleasant River, Queens County, where he is president of Pleasant River Farms Limited, a Christmas tree farm. His list of business endeavours includes real estate, fisheries, construction equipment, and exporting.
